Y F Furniture has been providing high-quality office and contract furniture solutions nationally and internationally for over 30 years.
Based in Liversedge, West Yorkshire, Y F Furniture is a family business and was established in 1981 by Mike and Elaine Scott. The company was originally known as Yorkshire Fibreglass and worked on prestigious projects including the Royal Albert Hall, P&O Cruises and job centres nationwide.
As time moved on and the company grew, Y F Furniture increasingly specialised in office seating and held the furniture contract for the Northern Irish Government for 10 years. Y F Furniture also worked under contract for Wm Morrison Supermarkets, furnishing all Morrisons stores nationwide and fitting out all the Safeway conversion stores following their acquisition by Morrisons.
In recent years, Y F Furniture has developed a comprehensive selection of modular and soft seating, often working to a specific set of customer requirements. Y F Furniture has worked with market leaders in the furniture industry to supply bespoke solutions.
We strive to build a genuine relationship with our customers and are never more than a phone call away. You will always be able to speak to the person who is handling your project – from the initial consultation, through the design process and the manufacture of the final product.
At Y F Furniture, we are able to offer a personalised service, with no job too big or too small. Having worked with supermarkets, shipping lines and government departments, we are accustomed to working to tight deadlines, so no matter what your timeframe we can accommodate you.
Elaine worked at the original Yorkshire Fibreglass as Office Manager during the early years of her marriage to Mike (our former MD, please see below) and she told Mike when she heard the business would be coming up for sale. Elaine oversees the company finances and accounts, chairs meetings and takes care of any disciplinary procedures. Our employees joke that they know they have done something wrong when Elaine comes to see them!
Adam joined Y F Furniture in 2001 as Sales Executive on a steep learning curve, having never been involved in sales before. From there he progressed to Sales Manager and was made a director in 2012. In 2005, he married Mike and Elaine’s daughter Carly, making it a real family business! In 2003 Adam brought in the contract for Wm Morrisons Supermarkets. Adam became Joint Managing Director along with Carly in February 2017. He continues to be the main point of contact for our customers and suppliers, and is now in charge of the company on a day-to-day basis.e: email@example.com m: 07710 693392
Carly is Mike and Elaine’s eldest daughter. She joined the company in 2002 following her graduation from York University. She has, however, been involved with YF from an early age, having learned to ride her bike in the car park and helped out in the offices during school holidays! She became a Company Director in 2004 and became Joint Managing Director along with Adam in February 2017. She is now jointly responsible for the day-to-day running of the business, particularly financial aspects.e: firstname.lastname@example.org
Mark has been with YF since he was only 17, having been trained up by Mike. He progressed to Foreman and was officially made Works Manager in 2016. He is first point of contact for most suppliers or any queries on existing orders, and is responsible for overseeing all production work and planning jobs.e: email@example.com m: 07904 291020
Mike bought Y F Furniture (then Yorkshire Fibreglass) in 1981 along with his wife Elaine, and another husband-and-wife team. Having previously worked as a motor mechanic, Mike learned the business from the shop floor up and saw it go from strength to strength. Mike and Elaine bought out their partners in 1998 and continued to run the business until 2016, when Mike sadly passed away. He was so passionate about his company, the driving force behind it, and YF would not have been where we are today without him. We hope that we can do him proud in the future and continue his legacy.
