Five Questions to Ask Your Furniture Partner

August 6, 2021

There are many questions we have been asked by prospective or existing customers over our 40 years in business, but some will ensure you get the end result you are looking for better than others.  So, we have compiled a list of the top five questions you should be asking your furniture supplier, along with some handy tips, to help ensure your space is furnished in a way that is not only easy on the eye, but functional, durable and easy on the pocket as well!

  1. Can you recommend which items of furniture would best suit my needs?

By all means, have a general idea of what you are looking for and what style of furniture is best for you and your space.  Communicate this to your furniture partner as early as possible in the process, preferably with some images of the type of thing you are looking for.  Have a look through their product catalogue and let them know what you think would work.  But keep an open mind and let them suggest alternative options – they may come up with an idea you hadn’t thought of and it’s always worthwhile taking advantage of their knowledge.  Y F Furniture has accumulated 40 years of experience in helping customers ensure they choose exactly the right product for their needs, so we know how to find that perfect balance between style and function.  Take a look at some of our previous projects for inspiration.

  1. Can you manufacture bespoke items/specials, or adapt existing designs to suit my requirements?

Often, customers have a very specific design of chair they would like, or an idea that they cannot find available anywhere.  We will work with our customers to design their perfect seating*, or sometimes even just tweak our standard ranges.  For example, adjustable arms or seat tilts and slides can be added to some operator chairs, or we offer a variety of different bases and legs on many items.  Click here to read about our bespoke design service.

  1. Can you recommend which fabrics would be most suitable for the item I am purchasing?

There is an endless choice of fabrics to pick from, but not every type of fabric is suitable for each chair or seating module.  In fact, there are some that we actively discourage using as we know that they do not sit right on certain items and we want our finished products to look perfect.  Any good upholsterer should be able to tell you which fabric ranges will look great on the furniture you have chosen, and which to avoid, so it’s always best to ask.

  1. Can I come back to you if I get a cheaper like-for-like quotation elsewhere?

We all know that it’s best to shop around, whatever you are looking to purchase, and we appreciate that our customers often do.  While we always provide our customers with the best possible price, we do encourage you to come back to us if you receive a cheaper price elsewhere.  We will do everything in our power to try to match your price, but if this is not possible we will advise you why this may be the case so that you can make an informed decision on which item to purchase: after all, going for a cheaper option might not be giving you the best value longer-term.

  1. Can you deliver and install my furniture and how much will this cost?

Most reputable furniture manufacturers will provide a delivery and installation service, and we are no exception.  We take a pride in the careful handling of our furniture, and while many of our customers do collect, we have our own transport available and can put your furniture in situ and remove the packaging.  If you are wanting your furniture to be delivered and installed, always ask your furniture supplier for a quote for this upfront, so that you can budget accordingly or make alternative arrangements if need be.  We keep delivery costs as low as possible and will quote according to distance and the amount of labour involved to ensure you get the best price rather than quoting a flat rate.

If you are looking to ask us any of these questions, or if you have your own enquiry, however random, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.  We will be delighted to hear from you!
